Kay Wheeler is a Los Angeles–based multidisciplinary artist and creative futurist exploring art, identity, space, and collective experience. Working across visual art, spatial practice, and cultural programming, Kay creates work that invites people to question what is possible and imagine new ways of being. Their practice is rooted in experimentation, transformation, and the belief that we can actively create the worlds we want to inhabit.

The fight within.
The Rounds are a series of three works about the fight within: the moment you realize the opponent and the healer share the same body. All the healing and guidance, the prayer and meditation you've been reaching for, already lives inside you. You are the healer. You are the medicine.
Each round is a different level, and every level asks something different of you. Some days are hard. But every day you wake up, you get another chance to face life head on, on your own terms, no matter what yesterday was.
Once you settle the fight within yourself, everything around you moves a little easier. The universe only understands momentum, and as long as you keep choosing resilience, it has no choice but to conspire in your favor.
No rain, no flowers.
About Kay
The environments we create shape what becomes possible within us.
Kay Wheeler’s practice begins with a simple belief: the environments we create shape what becomes possible within us.
Working across visual art, spatial practice, hospitality, fashion, and cultural programming, Wheeler creates objects and experiences that invite people to see themselves, and one another, with greater possibility.
This practice grew from a fascination with the space between who we are and who we are becoming. A room can change how we behave. Clothing can change how we inhabit a body. A table can change who speaks to whom. A drink can become a ritual. Art can give language to something we have not yet learned how to say.
Rather than treating these disciplines as separate, Wheeler brings them into conversation.
The result is a practice concerned less with making things for people to look at and more with creating conditions for people to experience something: a different perspective, a new relationship, a sense of belonging, or a glimpse of a possible future.
This is the thinking behind MAKEROOM: an evolving platform for artistic experimentation, gathering, and collective experience.
For Wheeler, making room is both a physical act and a cultural one.
It is the practice of creating space for what does not yet exist.
